* Schlumberger invested $2.89 million in December to purchase approximately 140 acres in Strasburg, Ohio (Tuscarawas County). Schlumberger, a company with principal offices in Paris, Houston, and The Hague, is a major oil field service provider to oil and gas companies worldwide. Once the company opens later this year, 250 jobs are expected. It was reported that there are three other companies who have committed to go to the Strasburg area in order to be close to Schlumberger. * RN Industries Trucking (RNI), a Utah-based company that does work with Chesapeake Energy, has moved its eastern Ohio operations to Salem, the third location amidst the Marcellus and Utica Shale areas. RNIalso operates in Dubois/Falls Creek and Washington, PA. According to the report, RNI runs vac trucks, pipe hauling, water delivery, winch trucks, frack tanks and flat beds, all on a 24/7 basis. RNIis hiring drivers at this time, but expectsthat within six months, the operation will grow to 30 to 35 people, including support personnel such as office workers and laborers. * A Red Roof hotel chain representative has reportedly been speaking to officials in search of investors for about three motels in and around the Trumbull County, Ohio area. * Express Energy Services, a Houston-based company, is negotiating a lease for a building in Toronto OH (Jefferson County). Express Energy Services provides production and support for the oil and gas industry. The company is expecting to hire 35 employees initially, with a potential for up to 90 employees. * Waco Oil & Gas, a Glenville WV oil and gas production company that is affiliated with Exxon, will be setting up its headquarters in Bellaire OH (Belmont County). Waco Oil & Gas intends to hire 20-25 people with the expectation that the workforce will continue to grow as the company progresses. * A company in the oil and gas industry that has yet to be named has bought property along the riverfront in Martins Ferry OH (Belmont County). The company name is to be announced by the end of April or beginning of May. It is expected that the company will employ between 60 and 75 people.
